The Carthusia brand can be called the monks' perfume, and perhaps simply refer to the fact that it is produced on an island in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, off the coast of Naples, on one of the most beautiful islands, Capri. What is certain is that this brand incorporates ancient traditions, rare flowers, legends and many years of history, and above all boasts a unique and pleasant fragrance. Legend has it that in 1380 the abbot of St. Carthusian, a priest named Giacomo, was informed of the surprising arrival in Capri of none other than Queen Giovanna D'Angio. To promote her face he made sure to make a flower arrangement that consisted of all the most beautiful flowers of the island. But in the jug in which the flowers were placed the water was not replaced for three days, and then when the flowers were thrown away, the Holy Father noticed that the water had received a wonderful fragrance unknown to him. He hurried and went to the alchemist who was another of the abbots. It traced the origin of the wonderful fragrance that earned it the name: "Garofilum silvestre caprese". In short the water of these flowers is what made up and became the first perfume of the island of Capri. This special history continued when in 1948 one of the patriarchs discovered the old formulas of the ancient perfumes, and with the approval of the Pope consulted about them with a chemist from Turin. This is how the smallest laboratory in the world was created, which was named Kartosa. The ancient tradition of Carthusia continues even today when the production of perfumes is limited because there is an insistence here on continuing to use the same methods as the Cartesian monks. All preparations are made from high quality original products and even the final product is wrapped manually. The rosemary-derived extract harvested on Monte Solaro is mixed and used in men’s products, while Capri’s wild clove extract is used for women’s fragrances. The Carthusia brand has about 24 perfumes. This is an old perfume house, with the earliest edition being created in 1948 and the newest being from 2019. The brand’s fragrances were created in collaboration with Luca Muffy and Laura Busty Tonato perfumes. The brand's Terra Mia perfume is an oriental vanilla fragrance for women and men, which was launched in 2017. The nose behind this fragrance is Luca Maffei. Its top notes are neroli, pink pepper and bergamot; The middle notes consist of coffee, hazelnuts, rose, orange blossom and jasmine; While the base notes combine vanilla, amberwood, ambroxane and musk. The creators of the perfume claim that their inspiration comes from velvety and captivating perfumes that taste as good as coffee and hazelnuts, intertwined in the raw nature made of orange blossom, pink pepper and jasmine. When a vibrant and ancient soul watches an idyllic sea and hears a resounding earth, our passion, my earth, or in Italian terra mia. This is a perfume with a pleasant presence that stays on the skin for a very reasonable time. It is very suitable for the cold winter and autumn days. In contrast, the Io Capri perfume by Carthusia is an aromatic fragrance for women and men. Io Capri was launched in 2000, which can definitely make it a classic fragrance. The nose behind this perfume is Laura Busty Tonato. Its top notes are mint, eucalyptus, Sicilian lemon, star anise, Brazilian orange and diced leek; When the middle notes are fig, tea, wildflowers, lemongrass, apple blossom and Egyptian jasmine; While the base notes are algae and tobacco blossoms. This perfume is an aromatic tribute to Ella Capri to whom the Emperor Tiberius dedicated one of the island's royal villas. When the mature notes used of wild fig combined with tea leaf indicate a dynamic and spiritual blend.
