MEMO Paris

MEMO Paris is a fragrance house founded by John and Clara Molloy in 2007. Their love story began in an elevator. From there, they decided to embark on a journey together that included both love and marriage, as well as joint business ventures. John Molloy grew up in the Irish countryside. Clara grew up in Andalusia. Both had a lifelong love of travel and adventure, which became the inspiration for their fragrance collection. Memories of love The brand MEMO Paris was named after Clara's memories, collected from different places around the world. As Clara says, she has tons of material from her travels, and these materials provide her with endless inspiration. She collects metro tickets, historical books, travel diaries and, of course, fragrances. Together with perfumer Eleanor Massanet, Clara and her brand have so far produced four perfume collections, along with home fragrances and bath products. In addition to her talent as a perfumer, Clara is also a writer, and has published three volumes related to the fragrance industry to date. The nose behind MEMO Paris As mentioned, the nose behind the brand is Eleanor Massanet. She studied perfumery at Cinquième Sens and Firmenich before beginning an internship at International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF), where she has worked since 1995. Her fragrance creations include leading brands such as Liz Earle and others. She says that she has been addicted to scents since she was young. Throughout her childhood, she would smell her food before eating it. Her parents were angry with her for this and considered it a "bad" habit. At the age of 20, she decided to pursue a career in the field and express her exceptional love of fragrances. Among her five favorite scents in the world, she counts Vanil bean oil and says it is her favorite scent of all. She also considers the scent of a newborn, when he or she is transferred from the womb, a favorite scent, because at that moment it has strong, Chayati musky notes. The powerful scent of the Atlantic Ocean is another favorite. When standing on a large, stormy seashore and iodine and Salty scents reach the nose, she says it feels like a cloud of freshness and nature. The combination of Incense and water also evokes many memories for her. So does the scent of Lotus flowers in Asian lakes, a scent that is very difficult to recreate, she says, because from the moment it is picked, the flower no longer gives off a scent. Her favorite perfume is Shmiller. As a perfumer, she can work on several perfumes at the same time. The only times she takes a vacation are when she has a cold. The brand's collections This brand has 42 perfumes to date, with the earliest edition created in 2007 and the newest dating from 2020. Its creations are spread across four collections, through which MEMO Paris redraws the entire emotional sensory map of the world and, in fact, reinvents it through fragrances, ingredients and sensations. The brand's motto is 'The journey is the destination.' The brand's collections include "Les Échappées" - a collection of six fragrances representing different anchor points that lead from chic, bohemian Paris to the heart of Burma in the East. "Nomades Cuirs" is the second collection. This brand collection explores the leather theme through six symbolic destinations stretching from Africa to Italy. "Graines Vagabondes" sows the scent of natural seeds such as sesame, which is still a rare ingredient in perfumes. Finally, there is "Land of Art", a tribute to all those mysterious territories transformed by the artistic hands of humanity. The brand itself has made its home in Paris, but it is available in more than 30 countries around the world.
